Icecream Chippendale Chairs...

These beautiful chairs just arrived in the boutique and aren't they just so lovely. The bottom aqua carver with the geometric fabric has already been sold to a very happy customer although is available to be ordered if anyone was interested. I'm so tempted to keep a couple of these little beauties for myself - one as a darling occassional chair and the other as a desk chair, surely even after a bit of a bad day these could lighten the mood!? Pink Hallway Love!

I found this stand at my favourite vintage furniture store and decided on gorgeous pink for our hallway. Apologies for the poor shots - bad light this morning and the tight little nook its in has made it a little difficult! Loving the colour and so pleased with its gorgeousness! You can see the before shots below... Kellie x

The pink treatment

What a fabulous shade of pink! I have a console coming to our home that I would love to give it this "pink" treatment - too fabulous for words I say!

Print on print

A divine example of throwing lovely printed textiles and a bright coat of paint into what may be otherwise considered a soft and neutral space. Kellie xx

A new painting itch...

I have an itch. That itch is to paint our dining room table. Something bright and bold. Perhaps turquoise. I found this inspiration as examples of how gorgeous paint can look and how it can transform a piece of furniture. Now to convince the husband this would a fabulous thing for him to do for me... Wish me the best of luck! Kellie xx

Gorgeous, gorgeous cane...

Whilst the view here is delightful, what I was most interested in was that painted cane furniture! What a beautiful colour and just shows you, that old cane furniture I know Mum has hiding away in the garage, with just a tiny amount of effort, can come up looking stylish and new again. Throw on a gorgeous cushion or two and you have a winner! Kellie xx

Quick DIY: An outdoor coffee table at my place

Mum popped by on the weekend for a quick afternoon tea and decided I needed to give our outdoor table a quick DIY facelift. This table has been painted all sorts of colours and this week I have used a Porter's Paint {Duchess Satin /Ambassador Stirling colour) to make it look pretty. The metallic finish is such an interesting look for an outdoor piece but nonetheless I was delighted with the result and was happy to see it sparkling alway in the natural light.

I also couldn't resist showing you that bunch of yellow roses. Such tiny little flowers on each stem but so, so many of them. Think I might have to find more over the weekend. Kellie xx

A boring old set of drawers

What a beautiful way to jazz up a boring old set of drawers... Shame I am not that talented with the paintbrush when it comes to details! Kellie xx

Using colour in your home

My lovely readers often say to me that they are nervous playing with colour and often find themselves sticking with safer options that they "know" they will like. Whilst I too adore whites and neutrals, I find it very rewarding to try brighter options on furniture and accessorising with pops of colour.

I have also become braver over time and started to realise, using colour on items that can be changed is the perfect way to give something a new look and lift without feeling locked in. My favourite way to use colour is on smaller items of furniture, cushions and accessories as they can be moved around the home and updated again very easily.

For my Australian readers who are thinking about venturing out into painting furniture with brighter options I would highly recommend Porters Paints who offer the most delightful selection of colours. And the best thing about the Porters range is they sell little tiny samples so you aren't forced to buy 1 litre of paint, you can take a couple of little samples home, try them out and then make an informed decision about the best colour for you. Too easy I say!

I thought these examples were beautiful uses of colour. Fun, quirky and interesting. Kellie xx

The house is in order... Well sort of

As much as I love to lounge around and do not much, I also get lots of satisfaction out of beautifying our house. This weekend we have done lots and lots...

1. I painted two bed side tables (i'll show you this week)
2. Finished my project with those gorgeous paints I featured a couple of days ok (I will show you that too)
3. Oh yes and I painted a old chest of drawers white
4. Luke has commenced wallpaper duties in our bedroom
5. Lots of new plants out the front of our home
6. Two visits to the vet - and i'll show you that one as well

Seems like I have lots of things to share with you this week.

Oh, and why the picture!? Well, that colour is divine and i'm searching for a fabulous antique console to give it that stunning treatment. If you see something please let me know! Kellie x
