Bucket ideas...

Who ever thought a trusty old bucket could look so beautiful! What a fabulous idea. I do have a few hanging around here at home that I wasnt quite sure what to do with. Lots of lovely flowers are coming out soon including hydrangeas as we move into the warmer months - one of my favourite spring/summer flowers, they last forever and are so full and fabulous! DIY: Decorating a gift with a fabric flower...

I always love to find new ways to wrap gifts. Whilst these little beauties are initially wrapped in a simple paper bag, their look is magnified with handmade flowers simply stitched together.

I seem to have lots of little bits of fabric around my home and they are never quite big enough to do much with - what a divine use for them! I must now get some coloured cotton together and get cracking! Stay tuned for some oh so pretty gifts! Kellie xx

Quick DIY: An outdoor coffee table at my place

Mum popped by on the weekend for a quick afternoon tea and decided I needed to give our outdoor table a quick DIY facelift. This table has been painted all sorts of colours and this week I have used a Porter's Paint {Duchess Satin /Ambassador Stirling colour) to make it look pretty. The metallic finish is such an interesting look for an outdoor piece but nonetheless I was delighted with the result and was happy to see it sparkling alway in the natural light.

I also couldn't resist showing you that bunch of yellow roses. Such tiny little flowers on each stem but so, so many of them. Think I might have to find more over the weekend. Kellie xx

Using colour in your home

My lovely readers often say to me that they are nervous playing with colour and often find themselves sticking with safer options that they "know" they will like. Whilst I too adore whites and neutrals, I find it very rewarding to try brighter options on furniture and accessorising with pops of colour.

I have also become braver over time and started to realise, using colour on items that can be changed is the perfect way to give something a new look and lift without feeling locked in. My favourite way to use colour is on smaller items of furniture, cushions and accessories as they can be moved around the home and updated again very easily.

For my Australian readers who are thinking about venturing out into painting furniture with brighter options I would highly recommend Porters Paints who offer the most delightful selection of colours. And the best thing about the Porters range is they sell little tiny samples so you aren't forced to buy 1 litre of paint, you can take a couple of little samples home, try them out and then make an informed decision about the best colour for you. Too easy I say!

I thought these examples were beautiful uses of colour. Fun, quirky and interesting. Kellie xx

DIY : Silk Flowers

I have always wondered how silk flowers are made, not being much of a sewer myself, they always seems absolutely unattainable. I was delighted what I came across this fabulous DIY which not only simplifies the process, but gives you an outcome that looks, well, shop worthy! These also would look stunning attached to a cushion or two! Kellie xx

Bedside table update

I painted my two lovely bedside tables in a Porter's Paint, in the Duchess Satin range which has a beautiful metallic look in the Ambassador Sterling colour. And I am delighted with the results! This classic colour works well with the new wallpaper and looks divine with our bedding that I will show you tomorrow.

Have a lovely and relaxing evening. See you soon! Kellie xx

Creating beautiful things!

s I do love making use of beautiful fabrics and not just saving them for a piece of furniture. I adore these cushions I saw over at the Style Files, and then I spotted the Chaing Mai fabric made into gorgous art (you can also see the intital cushions that were made)! Just fabulous. I have done this with wallpaper in my home and next time I think I should give that a shot with the bits of fabric I have here and there! Kellie xx

Pretty paints and the final DIY outcome!

Remember my post here with the pretty paints? Well this is what I did with them and how they turned out! Pretty don't you think!?

Step 1. Take of all the labels off the glass jars with warm soapy water
Step 2. Pour paint into the inside of the jars and removing any excess paint
Step 3. Let them dry
Step 4. Decorate them with pretty flowers!
