Another food post! Sorry everyone but I couldn't resist this gold cake - outrageously fabulous! Being a pretty lousy baker how on earth does one get gold icing!? Kellie xx
I haven't checked with you in a couple of days and look what I have missed! Love your happy fabrics and the plate, the wonderful golden cake and your summer latte, wonderful! Thanks for your sweet comment the other day! Sometimes I just can't squeeze all my blog readings in one day!!! xoxo
I've been seeing this cake around lately, it's breathtaking! I think there's a baker's gold dust that you can get to get this effect. (I'm pretty sure it costs an arm and a leg, though)!
It's just so gorgeous - rustic and oh-so-glamorous all at once! Metallic icing, as far as I know, comes from edible shimmer powder, which is pretty easy to get online. Otherwise, an afternoon getting distracted by pretty baking things in Plenty (at the dreaded Westfield Bondi Junction, black hole of time and money), can also obtain some. Little gold cupcakes would go so perfectly with some peonies and one of your beautiful ginger jars, I think!
Wow, looking beautifully royal to me. :) Gosh, what a statement to make when serving! Please do share if you get hold of the answer to how to make the icing!
I love this cake. In fact I saved it to my Pinterest right away. How on Earth one can achieve edible golden frosting is beyond me.. I Googled the question and the most common answer was some brand clled 'amenicolour' and the other was to cover regular frosting with gold flakes..
If you attempt it, please let me know.. I wonder if it tastes strange?
Wow that gold icing is dreamy! There are never enough good and delicious "food posts". Thanks for popping by to say hello and leaving your kind comment about my Valentine Tree! It was fun to browse through your blog this morning!
