A baking (sort of) disaster!

Well... My baking of macarons (or macaroons - i can't seem to find consistent spelling) wasn't so successful. Whilst they tasted delicious, they looked, well, a bit like golf balls when they were joined together. Rookie error - thinking they would flatten out with the heat! Sadly, they just were too ah, ugly (and embarrassing) to show you all... There is always next weekend! Kellie xx

  2. Oh well, at least they tasted great! Did you see them cooked on Masterchef - they looked amazing! I am thinking I might like to try another batch soon and I think you are right, they sort of need to be low and even before they go in the oven. Have a lovely day Kellie!

  6. Don't sweat it - I am a relatively good cook and macarons defeat me every time. It could have been to do with someting as minor as the air temperature or the humidity. That's why I buy mine from Laurent.!! xoxo

  11. Hi kellie, I have tried to make "le french macaron" - but they stuck to the glad-bake like glue - disasterous! but don't give up I'm not going to let them defeat me -no way !!
French macarons - are pronounced like maca ron,(rolling the r of course) made with almond meal they are totally different to the English style macaroon- pronounced maca rewn. which are made basically from beaten egg-white.
J'aime le macaron but je n'aime pas le macaroon.

  12. Kellie,

This happens to me so often. I'd love to see this recipe. They really intimidate me, but I'd love to give them a try.

    Have a great week!
