The cheating customer!

I have a dilemma for you... My normal hairdresser (of 5 years) wasn't available to do my hair on Saturday so I had someone else do it... Turns out I love my hair this time and I am thinking about changing hairdressers. Only thing is, I feel like I am cheating in a long term relationship and then throwing it in their face... How can i possibly book in a new appointment and see my old hairdresser there!? Very awkward! What do you think? Cheating or it's all ok - I am the customer anyways!!?? Kellie x

  1. Go for it I say. Do what's best FOR YOU!

Who knows, after a couple of cuts/treatments you may find it worth going back to the old one. Alternate between the two.

If you feel funny about it though, any chance you could make an appointment when usual HD is not in?

Ultimately though, you ahve to do whatever it takes to make you feel good....and look good of course

  2. I say you must do what makes you the most happy! Life is too short to try and please everyone else....

Albeit, it will be very akward, but I guarantee you will not be the first or last to do this. Hence the reason there are SO many hairstylists in this world! We all need a change sometimes.

  3. Oh that is a tricky situation, I have done that too and if your previous hairdresser is classy and knows business, then I am sure they have had that happen to them before. I agree with Mel and Melbourne Girl - do what is best for your hair. After all, your hair is your hair, and you are paying the money for a good job on it!

  4. Oh Kellie, I hate being in that situation - awkward ... but the other girls are right .. go with the one you like.

  5. That's a tough one Kellie but I say stick with the new stylist! You are the customer and I think it's healthy and normal to switch it up every once in awhile.

  6. Can you take pics of new do & take to old stylist?

  7. I have done the same.... changed inside the salon. No hard feelings, everybody needs a change occationally and a new stylist sees you in a new way. They are so busy, they might not even realize until much later...Anyway, in the beginning I tried to book on days when my old guy was not in....to go over the first strange feelings. I like change and go to a new salon every once in a while too!

  8. OK , this is a hard one. The only solution is to find out which days she is away/off work and book appointments then. It is cheating but at least you can have an excuse. I know my hairdresser is never there on Mondays, so if this was me I would book then and say it is the only day I get off now or something like that...good luck!

  10. That is a sticky wicket! There was a whole "Seinfeld" episode years back about that. Jerry felt like he was cheating on his barber. Do what ya gotta do :)

  12. Hi Kellie - first of all your blog is lovely, i cant believe i havent found it before now. This is a tricky one and i think lots of us have been through the same. The older i get the more i think just being honest and suiting yourself is the way to go..that way no one is left guessing or feeling uncomfortable. It probably happens to them all the time ! take care, Mel xx

  13. Ohh no!! hard one after 5 years, do they have different day's off? you could go in when the other one has her day off then!! Hope you find the right choice, at the end of the day your the paying customer, just go in with a big smile & mention nothing. Love the picks by the way Elaine :)

  14. Here is a solution where hopefully everyone comes out looking gorgeous (literally). You were happy with your original hairdresser for quite a while, so you are probably comfortable in recommending her to a friend who may be unhappy with her hairdresser. Then, you book your appointments for the same time, and go in together. You can very kindly say to your friend, "You take my hairdresser, you'll love her", and then you can have the girl you had last time. The salon will be happy, as you've brought them a new client, your friend is happy, as she has a new hairdresser, and you are happy and looking fab!x Caroline

  15. Oh dear, that is awkward and I probably wouldn't have the guts to change hairdressers, but would probably tell my one that I liked how the other girl did such and such and could you get that again.
Thankfully I don't have this problem as I go to Just Cuts, haha. Actually I very often get rather flattering compliments on my hair so it's working for me!

  17. That has happened to me too and it is very difficult but change you must. Good luck!

  18. As difficult as it may be I would go with the hairdresser that did my hair the best.

  19. I think you should go with what you like. They are professionals and the customer will go with the one she likes. Plus, think of it this way - now you have two options? When one is gone, you know who you can go to?

  20. as the customer you should definitely do what suits you. that being said, i probably wouldn't be able to look at him in the face haha

  21. I too feel a certain loyalty to my hairdresser. However I feel that you should do whatever is best for you and your hair and if that means switching, then go for it.

  22. oh... i am loyal so maybe ask a hairdresser for an opinion?
