I adore the exposed shelves, gorgeous plates out in all their glory for the world to see. I have my mother in my ear, telling me its terribly impractical but i couldnt care less, its creates such a wonderful mood, full of warm and delightfulness! Have you rebelled at all with your mum's sense of practicality as well?

Oh what an awesome looking kitchen. Love all of the shelves!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you stopped by! I love your blog and I love this kitchen! We all rebel against our mothers don't we? But then as we get older some of the sensibility comes back ;)

WOW love this!!
ReplyDeletep.s love your profile pic!! gorgeous!
Hi Kellie,
ReplyDeleteI adore this look too! Gives you the perfect excuse to have lovely matching china!
I bought the sweetest capped-sleeve little button up jacket only last week which mum pointed out it's impracticality. Oh well, I'll wear another jacket over the top! Jx
It does look beautiful, I´d love that too! :-)
ReplyDeleteThat really is a beautiful kichen, but I'm afraid you should always listen to your mum (unless of course you enjoy constant cleaning!!!) xxx
ReplyDeleteoh they do look great don't they! I guess it's just the dusting that would drive me nuts . . .that and if the things are up high you'd have to give them a wipe over before using . . .I must admit I've only just started to think practically like this! lovT
ReplyDeleteOh constantly! I have fabric sofas (she thinks leather is more durable), in fact my preferred fabric for the new sofa is velvet (shock horror!). I like dark, dark floors (she says they show dust), and I pulled the doors off the cabinets in my kitchen to create open shelving (dishes get dusty apparently). Hmmm, I have painted some furniture in high gloss paint, painted the front door in charcoal matt paint and chose cream fabric dining chairs. I could keep going but I think you get the idea!
ReplyDeleteSometimes with your home you need to be a little less practical and little more fanciful to have a place you really love!

Oh yes it is a beautiful and light and breezy looking with the open shelving,i love it.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy you wrote this post as i have a similar chopping block but without the towel rail,i am going to ask Steve if he can make one for me,maybe some open shelves too!
Have a beautiful day x
Yes have rebelled and there is a reason Mother Knows best...dust lots of dust happens when there are no cupboard doors...same goes for those dark timber floorboards that are all the go!!!
ReplyDeleteI love this Kitchen !
ReplyDeleteOhhhh yes, I rebelled! I have a huge collection of glass animal statues and murano glasses at my kitchen - not practical but makes me smile!

A true chefs kitchen has open shelves - makes perfect sense {and it looks great}. Sorry Mom!
ReplyDeletewhat makes them so great?
ReplyDeletethey are thick and they are floating.
xox
Hi Kellie,
ReplyDeleteI just love it! So beautiful.
xoxo
I adore the exposed shelves too. my architect didn't recommend them {because everything has to be nice and tidy} but I insisted so much that finally I won! I have my white plates and glasses exposed but do you know how did I solve the dust problem? with glass of course! you can see them but they don't get dusty. hope you're having a beautiful week, darling!

Stunning!! Could I keep the shelves organized and pretty is the question?!
ReplyDeleteOh I'm in love! That island centerpiece is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteHi Kellie,
ReplyDeleteMaybe I would half listen to mother and only keep the shelves open that I use alot of - such as dish and drinking glass shelves because they will still look neat and as ROOME well commented that there will be dust build up on everything else, so as I hate dusting I think I would go with that. I`ve definitely had some rebel moments from too high a heels to dancing till the early mornings, can`t think of a design one at the moment, but I`m sure I must have done tons! Oh and I love the look of the black lamp shades in the photo.
btw, thanks for popping by my blog!

This kitchen has EVERYTHING I want! Love black countertops, white cabinets, open shelves...
ReplyDeleteI love this look! The open cupboards, the island and everything white; just perfect! Thank you so much for your visit and sweet comments!

Hee I agree with you too (Sorry Kelies mum) ;)
ReplyDeleteI love this white kitchen. I just saw a lovely white kitchen last night with white marble counter top and dark wood floor.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice kitchen! But if you use the stuff on the shelves often, then it's not impractical! And who cares if you have to rinse a few things off every now and then! I prefer open shelves to closed ones, at least a few would be nice. And some rebellion is always a good thing, no? Of course our mothers do know best sometimes, but how will we find out where exactly they rank supreme if we don't venture out every now and then!
ReplyDeleteI like how bright this kitchen is. :)

I love the look of the open shelfs but when you have a small kitchen you need the cupboard space, i consider of putting one shelf up for my cookbooks but i am afraid they get to dirty and stcky in the kitchen.

I'm the practical one between us.
Yes, indeed lovely!

Ha! Rebel is my middle name. I adore that kitchen. Open shelving can be tricky, but when the payoff is this....totally worth it! Really lovely.
