Reader advice... Please?

I've decided it's time to get an digital SLR. And i'm so very excited about it!

Just a slight issue... Which one to get. I'm tossing up between the Canon EOS 5D or 7D. Does anyone have any recommendations or thoughts on what would be a good choice? As you know, I love taking photos of interiors and items around my home. I would love to hear your thoughts? Kellie xx

  1. I asked the same question a couple of posts ago on my blog and I will take an active interest in what people recommend. I just love your photos so if I can buy a camera that can help me take shots like yours, I'll be a happy woman. I hope you get lots of recommendations. Those biscuits by the way look amazing!

  2. Hi Kelie, that's so exciting about the new camera (what do you use now, by the way? Your photos always look divine.) I haven't gone to the SLR level yet, but very recently bought a new pet - I have an Olympus EP1 PEN camera (it's quite similar to a DSLR, but a little more foolproof for novices like me), and have been thrilled with it so far (it also has in-camera art effects, which are pretty cool). The mix of colours in that picture is just gorgeous, by the way.

  4. Hello lovely,

I can help with this one! My hubby and I went shopping for one just the w/e gone for my birthday this Sunday. There are SO many options and it's easy to get carried away but we decided on the Canon Digital SLR 1000D... and I LOVE it so far. The manual is easy to read and has all the main functions that I think you are after... I wanted one for the same reasons as you :)

I hope that helps my dear!

  8. Hey Kellie
I'm asking myself the same question? 7D or 5D?
Based on my reseach the EOS 5D is more expensive. However the 7D is an all round great unit for the 'junior' professional photographer with all the great features. I've found the cameras available through the following website https://www.d-d-electronics.com.sg/. I'm no pro however your photos are amazing so the 7D would be a good fit.

  9. Hi Kellie, I don't know those particular models but you can't really go wrong with Canon. Whenever we buy a new gadget we check out a few forums and dedicated techo sites to see what people are saying about particular models. It's always been very helpful..Rachaelxx

  10. Hi Kellie,
:) I think that you have to ask a photographs about it. I can't give you advice... I just can tell you that I use Nikon and don't have any problem with it almost 5 years.

I hope that you will find soon a perfect camera for you. Good luck ;)))

  14. I wouldn't be much good at advising you on this one, Kellie. My husband bought me a new super-duper all singing, all dancing camera for Christmas and I haven't even looked at it yet !! I am sure that you will be given some good advice by others though. Good luck with it aand I'm sure that we will be seeing some stunning photographs before long. XXXX

  18. I use to use an SLR. But after that one bit the dust, I went to the cheaper Canon Powershot series. I take a LOT of photos, so I can wear one out in two to three years. For the last few years I've been quite happy with the Powershot G10. And the best part is it's less than $500.

  21. There really is nothing better than a Leica lens. I highly recommend the Lumix that comes with a Leica lens, and you can purchase additional lenses for various zoom capabilities.

  23. Have you gone to the store to play with both models? That was how I've narrowed down my choices for a DSLR. (I just have to wait for my finances to stabilize). For the purpose of your use, I think both will achieve it very well.

  25. I'm partial to my new Nikon D5000.
I was torn between Nikon and Canon, but had several pros tell me that Nikon has better lenses.

Of course, those are fighting words to a Canon owner, LOL! ;-)

Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll produce gorgeous photos with it!

    All the best,
    Anne

  27. Hi Kellie,
It's more about the lens then the actual body of the camera.
